In 2003, Gabrielle starred alongside Jada’s husband Will as his love interest in Bad Boys II. Jada had recently given birth to daughter Willow Smith so she couldn’t be around as much during filming to support Will on set.
Theresa Randle, who played the character Martin Lawrence’s wife in the film, allegedly told Jada she felt Gabby and Will were getting too close for comfort. Jada allegedly brought it up to Gabrielle, who denied it, but the two haven’t gotten along since.
This is allegedly why we barely saw any Theresa Randle’s scenes in Bad Boys II and possibly why we haven’t seen much of her since the film’s release.
Not saying she was blackballed for allegedly stirring up trouble on set, but there must be a reason why an actress who ruled the 90s, starring in every major blockbuster from Space Jam with Michael Jordan and Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy, to the dramas of Malcom X biopic with Denzel Washington and Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever, has now has faded to obscurity with her last hit being… 17 years ago.
Teresa is still, however, slotted to reprise her role in the two upcoming Bad Boys films for consistency purposes. If you look at pictures from the red carpet premiere of Bad Boys II, you’ll see pictures of Gabrielle’s and Theresa’s forced smiles, and rare, if any, pictures of Gabrielle and Jada.
This moment was allegedly what Will was referring to as one of the times where his marriage to Jada was tested during past interviews. Marriage counseling helped the two survive the “dark moments” and their marriage is stronger because of it.
Will and Gabby stayed good friends since the film, with Gabby bragging in interviews how great Will and Martin were to her, but doesn’t really mention her other co-star Theresa.
Neither Gabrielle or Jada have confirmed this longstanding rumor and will presumably skirt past it on Jada’s talk show.
