26 year old Cameron James Kennedy was under federal supervised release for a previous bank robbery when he cut off his GPS ankle bracelet and stole $23,367 from a casino cage at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
On Jan. 10, Kennedy flashed the gun on his waist to the casino cashier and demanded all hundreds before escaping in a taxi. Despite rocking blackface, the cashier told authorities she believed the robber was White because his complexion looked “irregular and splotchy”, says reports.
Cops were tipped off after Kennedy bought a $1,500 gold bracelet, over $1,800 in money orders, and a $1,000 prepaid debit card in someone else’s name after the robbery. Phone records also placed Kennedy near where the taxi dropped off the robber.
If convicted, he faces 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
