The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that they have suspended Donald Trump’s controversial immigration ban, that blocked immigration and travel from the seven Muslim countries:
Via DHS:
“In accordance with the judge’s ruling, DHS has suspended any and all actions implementing the affected sections of the Executive Order entitled, “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States.”
This includes actions to suspend passenger system rules that flag travelers for operational action subject to the Executive Order.
DHS personnel will resume inspection of travelers in accordance with standard policy and procedure.
At the earliest possible time, the Department of Justice intends to file an emergency stay of this order and defend the president’s Executive Order, which is lawful and appropriate. The order is intended to protect the homeland and the American people, and the president has no higher duty and responsibility than to do so.”
According to CNN, the DHS told transportation officials to continue processing visas as they’d done before Trump’s executive order. The nearly 60,000 people who had their visas revoked due to Trump’s executive order will have to go to an embassy or consulate to have their visas reinstated, says CNN.
The suspension of Trump’s travel ban is temporary, as the Department of Justice plans to file an emergency stay of Trump’s order, says the DHS. The Federal Judge, James Robart, who is responsible for blocking Trump’s travel ban, has a history of fighting for refugees.
Judge James Robart represented refugees for free while working for Evergreen Legal Services. Robart, who was apointed by President George W. Bush, made headlines before, for saying “Black Lives Matter” during a court hearing. The judge was condeming the use of excessive force by police in a case against Seattle Police Department.
In his case against Trump’s travel ban, Judge Robart says he was prepared to take his case all the way to the Supreme Court. Donald Trump of course took to Twitter to defame Judge Robart following Robart’s win against the executive order:
When a country is no longer able to say who can, and who cannot , come in & out, especially for reasons of safety &.security – big trouble!

The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017
What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017
Because the ban was lifted by a judge, many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring into our country. A terrible decision
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017
The judge opens up our country to potential terrorists and others that do not have our best interests at heart. Bad people are very happy!

In the meantime, the US Customs and Border Protection plan to reinstate visas and alerted major airlines to permit immigrants with U.S visas to travel into the U.S.
See what happens when people band together?!
Victory.
