“He had to watch this as this was put all over the outlets. As a mother I have now been forced to raise a son who is going to remember what happened to his father”, said Quinyetta McMillon. “He is at an age of understanding. I hurt for him and his loss as a parent. One of the greatest fears is to see your child hurt and know there’s nothing you can do”.
Quinyetta added Alton was “simply tried to earn a living to take care of his children”.
Sandra Sterling, Alton’s aunt who raised him after his mother passed, says she can’t watch the video of Alton’s death:
“That video is everywhere now. It hurts me to see it. I can see the picture but I don’t want to hear the sound. The sound gets me. It gives me an anxiety attack when I hear the sound”.
State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle, who was briefed by the police chief, told WAFB-TV that the officers were wearing body cameras but the cameras fell off during the struggle and did not capture the shooting.
How convenient.
Other government officials have spoken publicly against the officers responsible for the shooting. See NEXT PAGE.
