Or should I say Tina Lawson? The 61 year old mother of mega stars Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Solange Knowles-Ferguson, said “I Do” for the second time to her friend of 30 years, 68 year old actor Richard Lawson. The two held their ceremony on a yacht in Newport Beach, California earlier this month on April 12th and guests included her grandchildren Blue Ivy and Juelz (whom served as the flower girl and ring bearer), Richard Lawson’s children actress Bianca Lawson and Richard II, Samuel Jackson, Kelly Rowland-Witherspoon and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, and of course, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
Tina spoke exclusively to People Magazine about her nuptials, saying after finalizing her divorce to Matthew Knowles in 2011 after nearly 25 years of marriage, Tina didn’t think she would ever find love again:
“To walk down the aisle and see all my friends and family and to see my handsome man standin’ there, and to know that at 61 you can still find love and have a magical day like that … it was really beautiful.
It couldn’t have been more perfect… There was a time when I doubted if I would find love again, but I was determined to be happy.”
The bride and groom as well as their guests all wore white. Tina walked down the aisle to India.Aire’s Ready For Love (I love that song!) in a dress by Romona Keveza.
On if her daughters performed at the wedding:
“We didn’t want them to work,” she says. “We wanted them to enjoy the day and not have the pressure of it.”
Tina says she hopes to inspire women to never give up on love, despite past relationships, because love can find you at any age:
“It was important to me to have a wedding and walk in white, because sometimes we feel that at a certain age you should act a certain way,” she says. “You can find love at any age. You just have to go for it.”
It’s crazy how Tina and Richard were friends before she married her ex-husband. That goes to that love can be right under your nose. You just have to open your eyes. We wish Tina and Richard another 30 years of love and friendship….
