According to WKBW Buffalo:
The Buffalo Public School District says it cannot comment on this case due to Federal Laws but says in order for a parent to file for homeschooling, they must have full custody of the children. Harris says she’s a single parent and has always had full custody until her kids were taken away.
Kiarre had since been released and an Erie County court judge denied a request to return Kiarre’s kids back into her custody. Instead, the judge granted Kiarre supervised visitation with her children, two hours per week with a Catholic Charities worker present.
It has now been over a month, and Kiarre still has not been allowed to see her children, despite being granted visitation.
The judge also denied a request to allow the kids to live with Kiarre’s mother. Her 8 and 11 year old children are now living with their great-grandmother in a court-supervised arrangement, says reports. Kiarre is due back in court March 15th.
Despite reports of her being released, Kiarre’s friends say they have not been able to get in contact with her. Their calls to her phone go unanswered, and one friend says he was contacted by an “unavailable number” on behalf of Kiarre. Kiarre no loner has access to her Facebook page. In previous posts, Kiarre claimed her phone was “stolen by police”.
Masten Council Member Ulysees O. Wingo has taken special interest in Kiarre’s case, even sitting down with Kiarre’s attorney, Vanessa Guite. Friends of Kiarre have also reached out to Councilman Wingo, who they allege have not answered their questions on Kiarre’s whereabouts.
I searched through the records of New York jails, including Erie County. Kiarre Harris was not listed as a current inmate.
