Nicki Minaj’s brorther, Jelani Maraj was offered a plea deal after DNA matched his semen in a 12 year old rape victim pants.
As we previously reported, 37 year old Jelani Maraj was arrested for the rape of an underage girl in Long Island, NY. Maraj was arrested on December 3, 2015, just 4 months after saying “I do” to Jacqueline Robinson in a Nicki-funded wedding ceremony Baldwin, NY. The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office released a statement earlier this week, stating Maraj’s DNA is a match for the semen found in the 12 year old’s pants:
“…A DNA profile, a partial profile matching the defendant or consistent with the defendant, your honor, to the point in the hundreds of billionths of chance of it being any other individual, was discovered in the…pants of the complainant in this case, and also tested positive indicating the presence of semen,” Anthony Pirri, the assistant district attorney told the judge at a hearing July 26 in Nassau County Supreme Court’s sex crimes division.
Rumors about who the victim may be includes preteen Nicki fans and even Maraj’s stepdaughter. At the time of his arrest, Maraj and his wife shared a 2 story home in Baldwin with her 12 year old daughter and 8 year old son. According to a source close to the case, the victim is someone Maraj “had access to”:
“The 12-year-old alleged victim told police that Maraj raped and sodomized her in her Long Island home between April 1 and Nov. 30, 2015. Cops arrested him the day after the last alleged rape”, says reports.
Maraj was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child after his December arrest. His mother, Carol Maraj paid for his $100,000 bail. If convicted on the charges, Maraj faces 15-25 years imprisonment. Prior to his indictment back in April 2016, Maraj was reportedly offered a plea deal of 7 years for “course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, a B” felony”. He declined the offer.
He’s since been offered a lengthier deal of 15 years to life for ‘‘A-II felony of predatory sexual assault of a child”, according to reports. He has until his August 2016 court date to decide. In the meantime, the trial for his rape case will begin in November 2016.
The Maraj family knew of the pending case before it hit airwaves and prepared for possible backlash from the media. Nicki Minaj’s mother blocked major gossip blogs from her social media account. Wedding photos showing Jacqueline Robinson-Maraj’s face or those of her family were all kept hidden to protect their identities.
