Aunt Viv is NOT HERE for the hypocrisy…
After actress Jada Pinkett-Smith urged Black actors and actresses to boycott the Oscar’s ceremony due to it’s lack of ethnic diversity in the nominees, former friend and employee of her husband, Janet Hubert slammed Jada, calling her and her husband “bitter” hypocrites.
Hubert, who played the original character of Aunt Viv on the 90’s sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air, has had a longstanding feud with the Smith family ever since she was replaced off the show. She faulted Will for being replaced and still sees him as that arrogant, selfish young man she starred alongside over two decades ago.
Today, Hubert took to her Facebook page to blast the Smiths for urging Black actors to boycott the Oscar’s. Hubert calls out the Smiths for being hypocrites who only stand up for Black actors’ rights when it’s convenient for them. According to Hubert, she once asked Will to unite with the Fresh Prince cast to ask for higher salaries, and Will turned them down, saying he was fine with his deal. She was later replaced for being hard to work with.
She also cites Will’s latest films being “flops” as the reason for Jada urging Black actors to boycott. Watch Hubert’s full 4 minute rant BELOW:
