Today, Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud confirmed a response to a medical call at 9:43 a.m to Prince’s estate, the crime lab and medical examiner conducted a death investigation. Outside of his recent flu sickness, no known causes of death have been released.
Prince, whose full name is Prince Rogers Nelson, burst onto the scene with his 1978 For You debut album and his self-titled album Prince in 1979 after being signed to Warner Bros as a teenager. The Minnesota native was known for his controversial music and flamboyant attire, becoming one of the biggest sex symbols of the 80s.
The music and fashion icon took his talents to film, starring in several movies from 1984’s Purple Rain and 1990’s Graffiti Bridge. He was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 as one of pop music’s most commercially successful artists.
