Top 15 Most Talked About Sports Moments of 2015

13. WWE Fires Hulk Hogan:

The WWE officially parted ways with their wrestling legend on July 24th early Friday morning after his racist rant during a 2006 sextape went viral. In the tape, Hogan discusses his daughter, Brooke Hogan dating a Black Man, saying “if she was going to f*ck some n*gger, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n*gger worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player!” In addition to using the n-word repeatedly, Hogan also admitted to being racist on the tape. Despite doing damage control in later interviews, WWE decided it was time to part ways with the legend.

After winning the 2015 Espy for the Best Fighter award over boxer Floyd Mayweather, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey accepted her award and took a shot at Mayweather. In her speech, Rousey referenced Mayweather’s history of domestic violence, saying “I can’t help but really say that, I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once. I’d like to see him pretend to not know who I am now”. Mayweather previously said in interviews he didn’t know who Rousey was. Watch the shade throwing in Rousey’s acceptance speech at the 2:22 mark:

Rousey continued to take shots at Mayweather. Mayweather ignored her attention-seeking antics, but when Rousey got KO’ed by Holly Holm on November 14th, Mayweather didn’t take a cheap shot at her lost. Instead, he offered her encouragement, saying “I’m proud of the new girl, Holly, and I’m proud of Ronda… I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you. If you need help as far as with boxing, I’m here to help you. It’s all about timing and inches. Her ground game is unbelievable. She’ll be OK”.
