Lemon attended the protest as a reporter and interviewed the pastor who asked Lemon to leave from inside the church as they were interrupting Sunday service. Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon reportedly stated Don Lemon cannot use journalism as a “shield” from being part of a “criminal conspiracy”.
DOJ Attorney General Pamela Bondi posted on X that Lemon and the 3 others were arrested at her direction.

Georgia Fort also reportedly live-streamed her arrest on Facebook Live stating there were agents at her door. Dhillon reportedly stated the DOJ is “ putting facts together” and intends to pursue criminal charges against the four arrested.

Lemon’s attorney released a statement stating “the First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable” and “Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is the real indictment of wrongdoing in this case.”
